"My sisters and I sold t-shirts at our school at a couple lunches and gave a speech at an all school assembly to introduce and promote the project to the students and teachers. We also helped out at the benefit dinner in Ann Arbor. The shirts at school were worn all the time and everyday you could walk around seeing someone wearing one!" -- Lauren McIntosh "It made me feel pround that such a little thing could help so many people." -- Sarah McIntosh "I felt really, REALLY excited and happy. I felt like I finally did something for the project by myself. I felt grateful for all the support and I couldn't stop smiling. :)" -- Andi McIntosh "[For another fundraiser], I would like to plan a car wash and possibly hold a dance at my school. I'm also brain-storming ideas with my fellow class officers, family, and friends." -- Andi McIntosh "The more I heard about [this project] the more personal it became. The pictures and stories |

"I had a small birthday party and asked the invitees for donations to the project instead of giving me a gift." "I was looking for a worthwhile project to donate money to instead of receiving gifts for my birthday and since the Olevolos project is headed by a local person, I felt more confident that the money would actually end up where it was intended to." "I felt very good. Even though it was not very much money, I felt it would make some difference for those children and that they needed that money much more than I would have needed those birthday gifts. I also got to meet Dory with my five year old daughter and we talked about the project. I thought it was great for my daughter to meet someone like Dory. She is a great role model for any girl!" "I would like to do more in the future. I'd like to start by inviting Dory or Steph to my classroom (I teach German and French at a local high school) to talk about the project. We'll see what we can do in order to get the high school students involved." -- Bettina Hoops |

"[I sold] pop infront of our garage sale and my brother said well why don't we "Alone I made $60 but but adding the garage sale money [we made] $360." "I think with this project going on a lot of those kids are gonna feel really |

As a Nike employee, Matt is responsible for the large amount of brand new shoes that Nike is donating to the project. The shoes will be shipped over in the container this October. "I think what is special about the Olevolos Project is how organic it is. I enjoy having a personal connection to some of those involved. It's also exciting knowing that I can help again in the future." "To the kids in Africa I would tell them that I hope to meet them one day!!" |

As a Google employee, Sirene is responsible for leading web surfers directly to our website! She is currently creating ads that will appear on www.google.com as a way to increase traffic, hopefully raising awareness about the Project. Also, Sirene is meeting with experienced non-profit consultants as a means to develop alternative strategies for fundraising. "The Project is evidence that nothing is out of reach. It has enabled the people involved to believe that the world is small enough to where you can make a difference." "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." |

"Andrew and I donated money to the Olevolos Project instead of purchasing favors for our wedding. Neither of us could rationalize spending hundreds of dollars on bubbles. It was much more rewarding to give money to such a great cause. I have no regrets and would do it again in a heartbeat. Dory was such a big part of my little sister's life at U of M and it felt much better to give money to someone so close to her as opposed to a huge charity organization where I know no one. We are both very happy to help out such a young person making such a big impact halfway around the world. I wish I could do more. If we could say one thing to the children in Africa, we would tell them that they are so blessed to have found the people they have in their lives. We hope that they grow up to do great things in this world!" -- Sarah Bowes |

"We wanted to support this Project because we, as the Vacation Bible School staff, felt it is a heart warming and worthwhile project and we can see and feel the joy of the children and the strength of their need. By being able to talk with Dory, we also feel that we can be sure that the money donated will go to the Project." -- Brenda Conway "It felt like we helped someone who needed it." -- Michaella, age 11 "I was really happy they could have more shelter." -- Asha, age 13 "I felt good to be able to help them." -- Gracie, age 7 "Yes, I would like to go to get brow." -- Nicholas, age 5 "I would like to go to Africa. I think it would be fun." -- Michaella, age 11 "I would tell them hello and ask how are you doing?" -- Gracie, age 7 "I would tell them good luck and hope things work our good." -- MaryBeth, age 10 |

Often people say, ”We should help the children here in the US.” I would never refuse to help any child. But in Tanzania there is not an infrastructure like there is in the United States. Yes, there are orphans in America who need help, but orphans in Africa are left with nothing, there is not the help available to them that there is in the United States. My husband and I planned a fund raising dinner with family and friends. Dory and Reggie presented information about the project. I wanted people to understand my passion for this project. I honestly believe: "A hundred years rom now it will n ot matter what my BANK ACCOUNT was, the sort of HOUSE I lived in, or the kind of CLOTHES I wore – But the world may be much different because I was important in the LIFE OF CHILD." - Author unknown |
